This was one of the columns I wrote between 2003 and 2007 for STEP inside design. Sometimes they gave me a theme to work with. This time, I just went wandering around the web, starting with sites that had won awards. The design of the USMC website was very, very slick and effective. I had a little problem with the messaging, but tried to be subtle about it. My editor called and said, “Do you have to be so positive?” (So much for journalistic objectivity.)
