This was one of the columns I wrote between 2003 and 2007 for STEP inside design. For the previous column, I had reviewed the USMC site, and while recognizing the excellent design and branding, I found fault with the complete absence of messaging about risk, patriotism, international crises, and death. I got hate mail (I was a gutless liberal hippy chick), answered it, and promised to review a liberal website next. This is it. I’ll probably get more hate mail for reviving it.
